1. A Rates and Taxes clics is hereby created under the central
of the Collecter of Custorns who shall hencefarth be entitled the
Collector cf Customs and [Blond Revenue.
7. As execuu've in charge cf the Rates and Taxes oflice an
oflieial of the Condominium Service appoinœd by the Resident
Commissioners shall be entitled “Controller of Rates and Taxes"
and shall be responsible for—
(a) the annnal check and listing oftax and mœpayers;
(b) the collection cf all information necessary for the propu-
establishment of rates and taxes;
(c) the establishment of primary annual lista in respect 01' each
rate or tax with the assistance of the preceding year’s
primary or supplementary lista and or the registers con-
cerner], and submixsion tu the Resident Commissioners for
apprevnl befere the 1st Janunry ofeach year cf the primary
lists l'or that year;
the reg'stration of alœrations (including reception of
declarations of alœrations and rectification of mimkes in
the naines, professions and addresses cf rat: and tax-
payeIS); . _
(e) the establishment and keeping up to date of the registerr in
respect of direct taxation with the assistance of information
acquired hy action as in paragraphs (a) and (b) hereof;
(f) Lhe establishment and despamh of notices, wamings or
demanda with a view t0 ensuring the collection within the
proper periods allowed by the legislation œnmned cf the
taxation with whieh he is concerned;
(g) the establishment ol‘ trading licence forms and other
licences, as well as of the periodical documents provided by
current legislation and the farnishing ot' statements and
information rcquired by the Resitlent Commissionets;
the check and investigation of requests for abatement, and
the notification to those eoncerned of the deeision thereon
of the Resident Commissioan in cases where, according
t0 ciment legislation, it is the Resident Commissioners who
decide;
(i) the establishment at the end of every quarter by rate or tax
concerned of supplementury lists in respect of rates or
