JOINT RÉGULATION
To provide for lin estnblîshmfllt, maintenance and ndmlnistrnfion «f
Joint Native Prisons.

Issuod by the Resident Comnüssioners under the provisions cf
Article 4 (1) and (2) of the Anglo—French Protocol of 1914.
l. Tbe following are declared t0 be joint native prisons in
which natives undergoing sentences of imprisonment or while in
legal cuntody may be confined:
(a) The prison adjoining the British paddock, Vila, under the
eonù-al of the British Resident Commissioner.
(b) The prison in Teouma Road, W12, nnder the control of (lie
French Resident Commissioner.
(e) The headquuteta ofeach District Agent, British and French,
outside the islnnd of Efate, and being under the contra] of
the respective Resident Commissioner.
This lis! may be altered or added to by Joint 0rdn of the
Rcsident Commissioners.
2. Eanh Resident Commissioner 511211 mnimnin and administer
the joint native prisons under his central in the nianner set ont in
Lhis Regulation and any mles made thereunder, and shnll appoint
snch Prison Oifioers as shnll be necessary for their proper admini-
stration.
3. Prison Ofi‘îners shnll inclwde Lhe Supeiintendents, lb:
District Agents, Britjsh and French1 any members cf Lhe New
Hebrides Constabulary charged with prison dnties as wardens, and
nny other pensons appointed t0 petform prison duties.
Unless otherwise providod for Prison Ofiiœrs slmll only exem'me
tbeir funotions under this Regulation in relation to the joint native
prisons nnder the central of the Resident Commissioner to whom
they are responsflile.
4. Each Resident Commissioner may appoint an office: to be
superintendent of ench of the prisons nnder bis control.
