Title/Description
Roofing Ouravongouiac's house. The “rafters” are made of saplings of a tree whose bark the Asiana use to make barkcloth and which the Baruya use to make pulpuls for their boys. It can be planted in sugarcane gardens. lt makes a pleasantly soft pulpul. The traditional Baruya roof design, as the storv qoes, was copied from the spider by the ancestors. If only 2 - 3 men are makinq such a roof, it will take them two or three days. With a qroup this larqe. Here 8 men are working, 4 on top and four below.Once all the rafters have been bent down and stuck through the upper wall bindinq, then as many as 20 men can work to advantage binding the rafters in place.
