The “rafters” are made of saplings of a tree whose bark the Asiana use to make barkcloth and which the Baruya use to make pulpuls for their boys. It can be planted in sugarcane gardens. lt makes a pleasantly soft pulpul. The traditional Baruya roof design, as the storv qoes, was copied from the spider by the ancestors. If only 2 - 3 men are makinq such a roof, it will take them two or three days. With a qroup this larqe.
